New Classic LA

New Classic LA is a music blog and concert calendar focused on the best and most interesting new avant-garde, experimental, post-classical, improvised, or otherwise interesting music in Los Angeles today.

It was founded in 2010 by Equal Sound's artistic director, Nick Norton, and grew to be the most popular concert calendar in the Los Angeles post-classical scene, with ten writers and interviews, reviews, and features being posted weekly.

In 2019 when running Equal Sound became a near-full-time occupation for Nick, the management of the site slipped a bit. To make sure that it continues to thrive, we've rolled the two organizations into one. Major revisions to New Classic LA are currently under way, and we plan to launch the new version of the site by fall of this year.
