Equal Sound’s First Thursdays series at Art Share continues with an evening of physical extremes. Blood Oath is a modular noise metal band led by Ulrich Krieger, focused on opening new paths by bringing together different extreme sound approaches and techniques. Violist Diana Wade charges hard on a program featuring Italian postmodernist composer Luciano Berio’s Sequenza VI. This is music you can't ignore.

Blood Oath
Combining doom-death metal, dark ambient and harsh noise with free improvisation, Blood Oath brings together different extreme sound approaches and techniques. Based in LA, Blood Oath is a modular noise-metal band, opening up new paths, and defining abstract noise-metal metal.
Blood Oath ranges from a sax-drums duo to a full band (vocals, two guitars, bass, drums)—sometimes even with several electric string players. In live shows they have been described as an extreme physical entity.

Diana Wade
Violist Diana Wade likes to make strange sounds, usually on the viola. In a recent performance of Berio’s Sequenza VI, Diana was praised for playing with “both athletic and operatic ferocity” and “throwing herself into tremolo passages with a physical force that shook her and a sonic one that practically shook the walls” (Mark Swed, LA Times). If none of this is ringing a bell, then you may recognize her for saying “Shia LaBeouf” in that internet video.
Diana enjoys the richly varied musical life that she is cultivating in Los Angeles. Not only can she be heard recording for film and television, but also performing with ensembles such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Master Chorale, wild Up and appearances in series such as Jacaranda, Tuesdays @ Monk Space, Monday Evening Concerts, and the Hear Now Music Festival.
Recently, Diana has turned to composition and her vocal fry extravaganza “fry on fry” has been performed across the US and Australia. Upcoming projects include the premiere of an arrangement of Garth Knox’s “Jonah and the Whale” for viola, mezzo-soprano, and 25-foot drainage tube, as well as a new work for solo violin commissioned by Shalini Vijayan.
